I have made the following recent presentations:

Young Author's Conference- Etowah, Tennessee. (PowerPoint Presentation, narrated by the author, along with a book reading, both disseminated on a private YouTube channel- 45 minutes for 4th through 8th grade students)

Oklahoma City Writers- PowerPoint Presentation with live instruction as well as on Zoom. Adults- approx. 40 min.

Mabel C. Fry Library Zoom webinar for various ages. Part of a group of four authors and illustrators. Approx. 1 hour.

I have also been on two podcasts.

Susan grew up in a military family, traveling throughout the country and a few places beyond. She spent 30 plus years in Tennessee, but recently moved to Oklahoma. Ms. Kite graduated from Utah State University with degrees in Secondary English and Instructional Media (Library Sciences). She recently retired after 35 years in school libraries. Susan lives in Surrey Hills with her husband of 40 years. Several books are in the works. The Adventures of Billy Bob Flybottom was published in September, 2021. It is an early chapter book. A Zorro novelette is included in a 100 year anniversary anthology from Bold Venture Press, (Zorro's Daring Escapades). Her prequel to Realms of the Cat, First Realm was published February, 2022.  A Zorro trilogy, Zorro's Pacific Odyssey was also published in the same month.

The author is working on two sequels to Moon Crusher and another science fiction, young adult adventure called The Children of Kepler. She enjoys not only writing, but sewing, reading, collecting books and rocks.

Suggestions for a Great Visit:

I would love to talk to students in 4th through 8th grade about my middle/young adult books (see below). I can also discuss my new book, Billy Bob Flybottom with 2nd and 3rd grade students. I prefer visiting with several classes in the same grade, or seeing individual classrooms. Presentations are about 45 to 50 minutes each.   Order forms with book synopses would be delivered at least two weeks before my presentation (whether that presentation is in person or online), so I have time to obtain enough books for students who want copies. One thing that would be very helpful would be if the classroom teacher could discuss one or more of my books, (I can leave copies when I deliver the forms), ahead of time so students have questions ready.  **At this time any and all suggestions will be considered.

My Books:

Realms of the Cat:
TB is perfectly happy as a free city cat until he learns he has lived another life in an alternate universe. The human girl from his former family is in danger and TB is assigned to go through an interdimensional portal and protect her. Instead of protecting her, he has made it possible for someone to kidnap the little girl. Now TB must gather a team of cats and dogs to go back through the portal and rescue her. At the same time, he must figure out why all of the city’s dogs are disappearing.

The prequel is First Realm where a younger TB struggles to save his doggie buddies from dog fighters. He is able to work with various forest creatures including possums, squirrels, a crow, and a skunk. Even people get in on the act!

My House of Dreams

Noki is a young Native American whose life is shattered with the arrival of the Spanish priests, who bring terrible sicknesses and strange gods. Noki wonders how he can resist the efforts of the white men to destroy his way of life, even as his little brother, Eti, is drawn to the Spanish gods and their friendly priest.

The Mendel Experiment:

The Federation is desperate for the rare materials that have been detected on Mendel, but the system’s blue sun is deadly to humans. The solution? Create a race of young mutant who can live and work on the planet. Send them there with no memories of life with the human scientists, to make sure they can adapt and then give them the information they need to gather what the Federation wants.

Corree has successfully led her small group of forest mutants for five years. Then the weird dreams begin. They disclose the group’s previously suppressed memories and lead her on a search to find other mutants. When her quest takes her to the desert, Corree discovers an evil plot as well as a terrifying enemy—one that will carry her far away from Mendel’s solar system. Sequels: Blue Fire and Power Stone of Alogol.

Moon Crusher

Fourteen-year-old Diego only knows the rolling hills and pastures of his father’s hacienda in 1829 California. His peaceful, simple life is shattered when aliens invade and Diego is captured by reptilian warriors. He is now a slave on a huge space ship surrounded by technological advances not yet imagined. Unable to communicate, Diego struggles to survive and gain the respect of his captors. When trouble comes, will he be able to unite his fellow slaves to fight a more deadly enemy or will he betray the trust of Ziron, the ship’s commander? And will Diego regain his freedom and eventually return home to Earth?

Billy Bob Flybottom

Come on 'round and hear the story of Billy Bob Flybottom, the strongest boy who ever walked the Appalachian Mountains. Billy Bob wrestles a tornado, helps his neighbors, and figures out the best way to deal with a bully from another holler! An early chapter reader from Doodle and Peck or from Amazon. Includes teaching materials for parents as well as teachers.
